Meditation music is music performed to aid in the practice of meditation. It can have a specific religious content, but also more recently has been associated with modern composers who use meditation techniques in their process of composition, or who compose such music with no particular religious group as a focus.

Everyone has seen those annoying signs posted in the front yards of small brick houses all across the U.S.; Sister Fiona, Palm Reader and Psychic. Walk-ins Welcome.
It makes me shudder every time I see them, because I know that for the majority of people who visit those homes, it is a waste of money. Not only that, but it gives genuine clairvoyants a bad rap. For those of us who truly can see ‘beyond the veil’, it makes it hard to be taken seriously.
What does it mean to be psychic? That depends on who you speak to about the subject. For me, it means I get to experience and understand a great deal more than the average person. It can also feel like a curse at times, because people generally tend to get upset when they hear things from the ‘other side’ that I should have no way of knowing, which tends to prove that these things are real. And, when people are actually confronted with the possibility that there is life after death, it tends to cause fear or awe.
Being intuitive is like having an extra-sensitive stereo with a powerful antennae. When the stereo is turned off, you don’t hear anything; but, when you turn it on and hit ‘Tuner’, anything can happen. Some stations are clearer than others; sometimes two channels will bleed into each other so that no one station is terribly clear; and sometimes the signal is so weak that you may only be able to distinguish the occasional word in between a few bars of music. Just like in radio, there are those few stations that have great signal strength – they come in loud and clear and go on all night. I have found that these are the prominent people from a person’s past; the grandparents, parents, aunts or uncles, lovers and siblings of the person who is asking for a reading. Sometimes, the clearest readings come from a spirit guide or angel who is there to offer guidance and protection for the living person involved.
A true reader is one who has the highest of intentions for the reading, and will go to great lengths to see that the area is protected before the session begins. The facilitator should also ask for the client’s highest good and set the intent for the session, with input from the client. I often ask that no one else be present, unless s/he will play some part in the intention of the reading. Otherwise, the extra energy can bring up extraneous spirits that have no real purpose in being there.
Many times a client will come in searching for ways to win another’s affection, or other such actions that deal more with the use of manipulation of another to achieve a result. This saddens me, because then the client has completely gone against the true purpose of an intuitive, or one who is able to see with clarity what others can’t prove. Because we are given the gift of ‘second sight’, we might see what pitfalls could befall someone if s/he continues on a current path, or what good things are in store for someone because of the things s/he has chosen to do. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to ask about loved ones in the client’s life; especially if there is a special someone in store.Often times if we read an aura (natural energy field around all living things), what we see there are patterns that the client has accumulated over the years.A client always has free will to make chances in his/her future. During the session, there is often a loved one from the spirit world in the session to offer advice and counseling in regards to a current dilemma or upcoming event that the person is concerned about.
To be clairvoyant, one would see things dealing with the paranormal; ghost, spirits, angels, colors in the aura. There are also clairaudients and clairsentients, of which I am all three. What this means is that not only do I see things from the other side, but I hear and feel them, as well. Sometimes I even smell particular scents, if it is of importance to the clarity of a reading, or helps the client to remember an incident. Often times people will look at me in amazement when I say these things, because it can be frightful and overwhelming to think of experiencing such events. Often people feel that these are tremendously special gifts; I disagree to some extent. There are many techniques one can use to develop these senses. I have used some of them myself. Remember, the mind is like a muscle; the more one practices a particular skill, the more adept or strong one becomes.
So, where do you start?
The biggest obstacle the typical beginner has to overcome is calming the mind. This can be particularly difficult for the younger person, who has a lot of extraneous thoughts whirring around. Here is something I used to do as a pre-teen to begin training my mind.
Get alone in a quiet spot, preferably one that is without bright lights and that has a soft place to sit. Place a small candle in front of you, about a foot or so from your feet. Let yourself settle into the spot, seated and alert, but comfortable. Now, focus softly on the flame, so that your eyes don’t feel forced to watch it, and you can even look of to the side a little. This is actually a great way to begin to see the aura, by looking softly beside the object in question.
It’s quite normal for thoughts to enter and leave your head, for earlier conversations and issues to reappear mentally. Don’t be hard on yourself. As soon as you catch yourself, mentally create a large bright letter ‘C’ in your mind’s eye, in the dark place between your eyes. You can feel free to close your eyes if it helps you to see the letter better. I would then say, ‘Clear’, over and over to myself until the other sounds in my head subside. This can be mastered quickly, or could take several days or even weeks of practice. Don’t give up, however. Once you can get to the place where you are able to focus on the flame for fifteen minutes with relatively little ‘mind chatter’, then you are ready to begin asking for guidance.
Watch the flame as you meditate.
Allow your breathing to slow, counting in one, out one, in two, out two, in three, etc. until you are able to reach seven or eight each way. This will slow your heartbeat as well as help to calm your mind. Feel the tensions of the day leaving your body, flowing from your pores and down through cracks in the floor for the universe to handle.
As your mind becomes still, notice the flame. It will suddenly shoot up, or jump quickly about. If there is no draft, this is a sign that there is a guest with you.
Keep up the breathing technique. Send out a message from your mind that you only allow those that are part of your highest good to enter here.
Ask that your spirit guides be around you to help protect you. If the candle continues to jump, ask from your mind that the guest identify itself, or show you something in your mind to help you understand what or who it is.
Ask for Its wisdom or clarity regarding something in your life. Remember that at any time, you may end the session, by simply stating out loud, “I am in control. I ask my spirit guides to close the portals of communication at this time. Thank you for being a part of my life.”
Always be sure to offer as many words of thanks at the end of these sessions as you can think of, never forgetting those you protect and keep you, whether you know them or not.
One other technique that works good for beginners is automatic writing.
Again, start out with setting your intent for the session, asking for whatever it is you are seeking to understand.
Put a notebook in front of you. Focus on it, and look at your hand that will soon be writing, and the pencil you are holding.
Always ask for protection, as described earlier.
Begin writing whatever you felt led to do. If nothing comes, I will sit and write, “What would you like me to know?” I may use an entire sheet of paper up before the writing comes to me.
Don’t worry about what you are writing. I don’t even look at it, except to make sure I stay in or on the notebook.
Try this every night, for at least fifteen minutes for seven days straight. By the end of the week, you should have something worthwhile.
There are many techniques and more in-depth way to conduct sessions that I won’t go into here. Look for other articles to come soon.
